Denise and Dave’s Wedding

Denise and Dave’s Wedding was the last wedding held at the La Playa Hotel in Carmel before it closed on October 31. The staff was wonderful, the sunset was beautiful, and the party went on all night! At the tables, each place setting had a small pine sprig tucked into the napkin which brought out the green in the table cloths and brought a nice pine smell to the room.  The cocktail hour featured a steel drum player which everyone loved! The place card board was made by Christy Altman in beautiful green fabric with jeweled buttons. The photographer John Kaemmerling and his wonderful assistants created a slideshow about an hour after the ceremony and placed their computer on the sign-in table for all to see. They also created a sign-in book before the wedding using engagement shots.

Melissa’s Bat Mitzvah

Melissa’s Bat Mitzvah was all about jewels and sparkle and fun, just like her! The service and party were held at Temple Emanu-El in San Jose. Colors were silver and hot pink. Melissa’s name in lights was hanging over the DJ, so with the lights dimmed, the room looked like a great dance party! We had up-lighting along the walls and stage and big balloons with silver material hanging from them with lights on the bottom to give the room a dramatic yet fun effect. We had a Green Screen with two different backgrounds – football (one of Melissa’s favorite sports) and glittery hot pink. The candles for the candle lighting ceremony were white and shimmery black. As parting gifts, teenage girls received rhinestone bracelets in tulle bags and boys received footballs. The DJ was fabulous, food was delicious, the cake was unique and fun (see picture!) and it was a pleasure working with the family to get all the fun details right.

Jamie’s Bat Mitzvah

Jamie’s Bat Mitzvah was a lot of fun! The theme was butterflies and gymnastics and the colors were lavender, purple and silver.  Guests entered the back
yard through a huge balloon arch with gigantic mylar butterflies and were greeted by a sign-in board and photo collage on easels.

The next thing guests saw was the Henna Tatoo artists and Green Screen. Guests could line up to get a henna tatoo and then dress up in hats, scarves and fun accessories to get their picture taken at the Green Screen. We ordered personalized Zebra frames for the Green Screen pictures and every guest took their photos home. We set up the backyard with tables, umbrellas, buffet tables, a Coffee Bar, a trampoline and of course, we had a great DJ leading us in games, dances and the Hora!

On the tables, we put personalized chapsticks in each water glass, a Candy Torah at each person’s place and the butterfly centerpieces had candy skewers made of marshmallows and gummy candies that guests could take home.

For the candle lighting ceremony, Jamie invited up guests to light a purple taper candle surrounded by silver glitter, butterflies and a large gymnastics girl in sparkly silver.

Jamie gave out personalized mugs and  buckets of little butterfly gifts such as stationary and candle holders.

The food was chicken, fish, and tri-tip for adults and hamburgers and mac-n-cheese for the kids. The chocolate fountain for dessert was the biggest hit of all!

Max’s Bar Mitzvah

A beautiful sunset greeted us as guests arrived for Max’s Bar Mitzvah party at the Chaminade Hotel in Santa Cruz. For the centerpieces, we grew real wheat grass in wooden boxes and decorated them with soccer balls and gumball balloons. The soccer balls were donated to the local Santa Cruz homeless shelter. A highlight of the evening, besides the moving havdallah, festive hora, and delicious food, was the photobooth. After the guests dressed up in costumes and took their pictures in the photobooth, they went to the scrapbook table and used the pictures to make a scrapbook page for Max. The book was presented to his family at the end of the night.
